Kari Raether
Board Member At Large

Kari’s sister Kelly died in the Line of Duty on November 26, 2020 due to Covid-19. Kari wanted to remember and honor her sister, and so she decided to volunteer at the National EMS Memorial Service in 2022. There she was looking for somewhere to help and came across Dawn. Dawn brought Kari into the kids section, where The For Paul Foundation sponsored activities. From there, Kari was hooked by the Foundation and the LODD community it serves.

Kari has a background of a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and taught for over 20 years in elementary schools and Pre-Kindergartens. After her sister passed, she decided to move closer to her family. Plus her boyfriend was living in the Milwaukee area as well. When she moved from the La Crosse, Wisconsin area back to the “home” area ofMilwaukee, Wisconsin, she wanted something new, and started up her own organizing business.

With Kari’s background of working with children, the compassion and empathy needed, as well as an eye for details, Kari wanted to help other LODD families in dealing with all the ins and outs of grief and loss. She wants to make sure that the loved ones are also not forgotten. They carry on the legacy of the heroes, and become somewhat heroes themselves.
